OUR HISTORY

The founders of the AFM Living Waters Miracle Centre (The Living Waters), Pastor Simphiwe and Olwakhe Kanityi began the Living Waters Miracle Centre church in 2017 in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province. The Living Waters will continue to impact the surrounding communities, with its focus on building lives through service that motivates and challenges individuals to fulfill their regional and global responsibilities, while fighting the good fight of faith.

Pastor Kanityi is a renowned leader in the body of Christ and will provide apostolic covering to pastors, church leaders and members; and his anointing and insight into the revelation of God’s Word touches the hearts of people around the places he has been to. He is an international speaker at conferences and leadership seminars, and is recognized by key national leaders for his prophetic wisdom and through his recently established organization, Real Men of Direction.

Pastor Simphiwe & Olwakhe have one little daughter. Pastor Kanityi became the branch leader of the Students Christian Organization in Rhodes University back in 2007. The following year, 2008, he was again elected of the same branch as the chairperson while he was also elected the provincial chairperson of the same organization. He once again was elected chairperson of the National Higher Institutions Executive in 2009. In 2010 he was doing a year program known as the Students' Christian Organisation Short Term in Ministry (STEM), still based in Rhodes University. At the same time he was the worship team leader at AFM God’s Glory Assembly based in the same city of Grahamstown under the leadership of Pastor B. Kutu.

Pastor Kanityi featured in a number of radio stations either as the guest or host of the religious programmes from music shows to ministering in Word. This started when his career in broadcasting took off in the year 2003 at Vukani Community Radio based in Cala, in the Eastern Cape. While still students, pastor Simphiwe and Olwakhe ministered in prisons, hospitals and schools through various programmes they have been actively leading. They have attended a number of conferences and seminars for personal development reasons.

From 2009 to 2012 pastor Kanityi assumed the administrative duties at AFM God’s Glory Assembly where he worked side to side with the senior pastor. Within this period of time he became the church’s treasurer and was also responsible for the training and development of the church's departments in a bid to empower ministry leaders.

In 2012 he started with his theological studies through the training seminary of the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa with the Global University School of Theology based in the United State of America. It is important to note that in the AFM of SA it is not a mandatory duty of the church to sponsor financially the one undertaking theology studies. It is the duty of the student to source funds or entirely depending on the assembly to choose to sponsor the student. Pastor Kanityi endeavored to pay for his studies which were to take 2 years but ended up completing his degree in a 5 year period of time. This was due to the fact that he was not working, therefore, had no stable source of income to fund his studies. This is the same period of time where he got married to Olwakhe in September 2013.

There are three people (pastors) who played a pivotal role in his life, shaping him to be the minister he is today. His home town pastor, XB Siyona of AFM Elroi Assembly. He played a very important role in his life making sure he was firmly established in the word and Christian life. This was after pastor Kanityi got saved in the year 2000 at a small town of Indwe. This proved to have worked wonders when he left for varsity 5 years later, assuming leadership positions and providing spiritual guidance to fellow students. He was a seasoned student and this is echoed by those who spent time with him at varsity whose life and what they turned out to be today was heavily shaped by the guidance they received from him during those years.

During his time as a student, pastor Kanityi was under the leadership of Pastor BL Kutu. It can be said that when they met in 2008 the calling was evident in the life of pastor Kanityi and the work he was doing of spiritual guidance to other students, was extra ordinary. It is understood that many young people lose it at this stage where when signs and wonders are following them they just jump deep into ministry starting churches. The call was so heavy of pastor Kanityi that during varsity vacations he did not go home, instead he would venture into visiting schools, prisons and hospitals. He took a great deal empowering himself. He then was launched into ministry by pastor Kutu, who made sure that he groomed him building up his character as a minister. This was a defining moment in the life of pastor Kanityi as it resulted in him being confirmed as the called and started with studies in 2012.

It was after getting married in 2013, that he received a permanent employment in Gauteng that the young couple relocated. After a couple of months looking for a spiritual home, they visited an AFM Ebenezer Community Worship Centre church based at Ormonde View. Here they made sure that their former pastor Kutu get in touch with their current pastor VV Mdiza. Who was to play an important role as pastor Kanityi was to complete his studies and do a year of in-service training under him. This is where from the year 2014, pastor Kanityi was made the youth pastor with more defined roles in developing this ministry. In the year 2015 pastor Kanityi finished his studies and was left with one course to re-write first semester on 2016. He started with the in-service Ministry Integrated Learning program called MIL in 2016 under the mentorship of pastor Mdiza.

It is during this time where he started with his organization, Real Men of Direction. An organization that seeks to cultivate a breed of responsible and God fearing men. The organizations’ vision is to break down church denominational, cultural, and racial barriers – by identifying, mobilizing, and celebrating SA men and connecting them to each other, as well as connecting them to their creator and to resources that will help sharpen, strengthen and support their development as spiritual leaders in their home, church, workplace, and community.

This is the organization that he seeks to incorporate into the church that he is leading with the hope that it will reach more people and more communities.

Pastor Kanityi holds his junior Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Journalism and Media Studies and Anthropology, his Honours BSocSci degree in African Languages, both from Rhodes University and his BA degree in Bible and Theology from Global University. He is currently working as a News Producer in one of the biggest media industries in South Africa.

Pastor Kanityi brings a wealth of true worship experience connected to an unapologetic love of the Lord from the heart of a servant-leader to his newly assumed role as the Senior Pastor of The Living Waters Miracle Centre. You will be blessed by a leader who creates an atmosphere of Christ-centered worship and praise where love is extended to all and the power of God can be experienced.
